The “AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D” in first place is overwhelmingly popular, with a large gap over the second place.

AMD CPUs with “3D” at the end of their name have greatly increased L3 cache thanks to AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology.

Because of this, performance in games and data-intensive applications is improved, which is considered one of the reasons for their popularity.

There are also quite a few other AMD CPUs with “3D” at the end, which shows their popularity as well.

Overall, high-end CPUs like Core i7 and Ryzen 7 are popular.

In the PC industry as a whole, mid-range CPUs like Core i5 and Ryzen 5 are also popular, but among custom PC users, high-end CPUs may be chosen more often because they are frequently used for demanding tasks such as gaming and video editing.

CPU Manufacturers

Currently, AMD is slightly ahead with about a 6:4 ratio.

CPUs are updated to new generations about once a year, and the market share changes greatly each time depending on performance, features, cost performance, and whether there are any issues.

CPU Price Range

The main volume zone is roughly 10,000 to 70,000 yen. To give a rough idea, CPUs up to about 20,000 to 40,000 yen are mid-range, 40,000 to 60,000 yen includes Core i7 and Ryzen 7, and 90,000 to 100,000 yen includes Core i9 and Ryzen 9.

Although not shown in the graph, there are also a few CPUs priced between 150,000 and 1,500,000 yen that have been selected.

CPUs costing over 500,000 yen are mainly for servers and workstations, and it is hard to imagine what they are used for…

CPU Benchmark Scores

*Benchmark scores are based on PassMark.

The CPUs chosen have been tallied based on their benchmark score ranges.

The main volume zone includes Intel Core i5, i7, and AMD Ryzen 5, 7, while scores of 50,000 to 70,000 are for Core i9 and Ryzen 9.

CPU Generations

For AMD, it was expected that the 8000 series would be the most common, so the results are surprising.

The 9000 series will be released soon, but the 7000 series seems to be the mainstream.

For Intel, CPUs are simply chosen in order of generation.

However, choosing CPUs that are three or four generations old may result in lower performance and cost performance compared to the latest generation, and the overall parts configuration may also become outdated, so caution is advised.

This shows the selection rate by generation for Intel CPUs only.

This shows the selection rate by generation for AMD CPUs only.

Data by CPU Specifications and Features

Next, the data has been compiled by specification and feature.

However, when choosing a CPU, processing performance, price range, and manufacturer are the main criteria. Therefore, it is likely that the specifications and features were chosen as a result of prioritizing performance, rather than being the main reason for selection.

In other words, it is not possible to distinguish whether a part was chosen for its specific specification or feature, or if it was simply a result of selecting based on the main criteria. Please keep this in mind when reviewing the data.

CPU Socket Type

LGA1700 supports 12th, 13th, and 14th generation CPUs, AM5 supports Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series, and AM4 supports Ryzen 1000 to 5000 series.

Choosing a new CPU will naturally lead to LGA1700 or AM5.

Presence of Integrated GPU in CPU

About 60% of selected CPUs have an integrated GPU.

If a graphics card is installed, this feature is not necessary, but having a CPU that can run without a graphics card can be convenient for maintenance or in case of graphics card trouble.

Types of Integrated GPU in CPU

This is the breakdown by type of integrated GPU.

AMD is mostly grouped under Radeon Graphics, while Intel is divided into several types, so the percentage for Radeon Graphics is higher.

Summary: CPU Statistical Data

The CPU popularity ranking, price range, manufacturer, and the percentage of CPUs chosen by other specifications and features have been summarized in graphs.

CPUs such as Core i5, i7, Ryzen 5, and 7, and those in the 30,000 to 70,000 yen range, were as popular as expected.

However, it was surprising that the AMD Ryzen 8000 series was not chosen much, and the 7000 series was the main choice.

Since the 8000 series does not have models with 3D V-Cache technology, this may indicate the high popularity of 3D V-Cache.

In addition to CPUs, analysis of other PC parts and the entire custom PC market is also available, so please refer to it as well.
